Kaila & John

18 Sep

This wedding was special to me to photograph as Kaila comes from a family I have known and cared about for many years! These two had a very difficult year after the birth of their son who had some heart complications for the first several months of his life. It was very wonderful to see them enjoy a day celebrating their love and family, surrounded by everyone close to them at a venue near and dear – Kaila’s camp.

It was definitely an afternoon of good country fun with a quad ride, bonfire, pig roast, and minnow racing.

Jessica and Jamey

There was a beautiful wedding at the Chanterelle this past Saturday.  The groom couldn’t keep his eyes off his beautiful bride.

These two lovelies booked me for a short and sweet ceremony and a few group photos after.

Aundrea & Andrew – Red Lake Wedding

27 Jul

So this wedding was an adventure! It involved travel to a new place and a weekend away from Thunder Bay.

It was an epic day, starting first thing in the morning and going late into the night.  Hottest day ever (even though Thunder Bay has been having a hot summer I wasn’t prepared for 34 degrees in the shade all day), but a relieving thunderstorm rolled in late evening bringing some rain and an impressive lightning show over the lake.

Noteworthy moments: opening matching robes at the salon, little flower girls getting make up, father-son interactions, dad’s first look at Aundrea (who didn’t cry??), beautiful vows, Aundrea’s vows to her step-son (yes I cried!), fantastic speeches (someone tell Pat that was the best best-mans’ speech I have ever heard), thunder and lightning, great dance party, and Brodie’s dance moves.

Sarah & Mike – wedding preview

20 Oct

Starting with a well-attended ceremony at City Hall, and ending with a classy and fun reception at the Chanterelle, Sarah and Mike’s day was filled to the brim with love.

This was my first time both capturing a ceremony at City Hall and seeing the Chanterelle, so I was extra looking forward to this wedding._DSC4796logosm_DSC4800logosm_DSC4806logosm_DSC4826logosm_DSC4834logosm_DSC4856logosm_DSC4946logosm_DSC4980logosm_DSC5042logosm_DSC5065logosm_DSC5083v3logosm_DSC5119logosm_DSC5131v2logosm_DSC5152v2logosm_DSC5168logosm_DSC5211logosm_DSC5222v2logosm

As this was my first time shooting here, I am including a few of the candid-type shots I typically leave out of sneak peeks because, hey, it just looks so fun!  They had a cocktail-style reception with drinks and charcuterie – the type of party that felt pretty “big city” (but surrounded by everyone you know and love).  Awesome all around._DSC5291logosm

Prepping the OYSTER BAR (have you ever attended a wedding that had an oyster bar??)

Best wedding favours?

Congrats guys!  You were glowing with happiness on the wedding day and I can see it in the photos as well!

Ashley and Jacob

22 Sep

What an awesome and memorable day for Jacob and Ashley.

My day with them started off at El Tres for a “first look”, then off to Waverly to meet with the family and wedding party for pictures, and finally off to Mt Baldy for the rest of the night.

It was such a hilarious day with this awesome couple, plus an amazing crowd including tons of old pals!

Meghan & Benjamin’s Wedding – Preview

20 Aug

Meghan and Ben have quite a lengthy love story that stretches back to their youth, making today a big deal.  A much awaited union, after 9 years of dating, college, getting a dream home, two children, they finally tied the knot.

Now I know Ben is a wonderful guy from what Meghan has said, not to mention the best man’s touching speech.. but I have lots of firsthand experience at how lovely Mrs. Meghan is.  We went through the SSW program at Con College together.  She’s a shining diamond.  A loving mother, caring friend, and kind soul.  Knowing how sweet she is makes me all the more happy to see how happy she is.

Now, join me in screaming over these shots from their wedding
