Kaila & John

18 Sep

This wedding was special to me to photograph as Kaila comes from a family I have known and cared about for many years! These two had a very difficult year after the birth of their son who had some heart complications for the first several months of his life. It was very wonderful to see them enjoy a day celebrating their love and family, surrounded by everyone close to them at a venue near and dear – Kaila’s camp.

It was definitely an afternoon of good country fun with a quad ride, bonfire, pig roast, and minnow racing.

Yung & Tom

12 Sep

Sometimes with couples from different backgrounds, there are multiple different traditions incorporated into one day. I was invited to attend and capture Yung and Tom’s traditional tea ceremony before their western style church ceremony. The tea ceremony took place at Yung’s parents’ home. It was very beautiful. Each important family member on both sides was introduced, with Yung coming out last, they exchanged rings and Yung was given special jewelry to wear. The couple served family members in gratitude while members gave the new couple their best wishes and advice.. such as CHILDEN, many children, but not too many children, oh but at least as many as in Yung’s family. Her dad let us know that in their culture, this is the most important day of their lives as parents. It was a joyful day indeed. Congrats Tom and Yung, I so very much enjoyed capturing your day!

Kelly & Josh

21 Aug

When I first met with Kelly and Josh they told me of their secret plans to elope which would then be followed up with a reception later in the summer at the Chanterelle. The elopement was photographed and displayed as a slideshow in the lounge, and was described during speeches – it sounded like the most special, fun, and adventurous time.

Speeches also highlighted the love and respect the family has for these two. They are beyond proud of and so happy for the new couple.

I loved this after-elopement party at the Chanterelle – and there could be no better space for it as Kelly is the amazing and talented manager of this coveted venue!

Congrats ❤

Sarah and Jeff

What a unique venue for a ceremony! Sarah and Jeff chose to exchange vows in PACI (now the law building for Lakehead) because of past school memories in the old and gorgeous building. It was such a fun day.

There was a beautiful wedding at the Chanterelle this past Saturday.  The groom couldn’t keep his eyes off his beautiful bride.

Aundrea & Andrew – Red Lake Wedding

27 Jul

So this wedding was an adventure! It involved travel to a new place and a weekend away from Thunder Bay.

It was an epic day, starting first thing in the morning and going late into the night.  Hottest day ever (even though Thunder Bay has been having a hot summer I wasn’t prepared for 34 degrees in the shade all day), but a relieving thunderstorm rolled in late evening bringing some rain and an impressive lightning show over the lake.

Noteworthy moments: opening matching robes at the salon, little flower girls getting make up, father-son interactions, dad’s first look at Aundrea (who didn’t cry??), beautiful vows, Aundrea’s vows to her step-son (yes I cried!), fantastic speeches (someone tell Pat that was the best best-mans’ speech I have ever heard), thunder and lightning, great dance party, and Brodie’s dance moves.
